A teaching day.
All its moving parts.

Real screens from a sample studio with invented students. Select a screen to see it larger.

Speak your notes. Tidy them up. Say a quick recap after the lesson, or type it rough, and Tidy up writes it out as clear sentences for the family, keeping everything you wrote and adding nothing. Private remarks are kept apart, and you review it before it saves.

Rough notes, then Tidy up

A recording of the Notedesk lesson drawer: a rough lesson note full of shorthand is typed in, then Tidy up writes it out as full sentences for the family, with a short To practice list, and moves the remark marked private to the Private note. An Undo link sits under the note.

Pins on the score

A recording of a score in Notedesk, Bach’s Invention No. 1: two numbered pins are placed on the music, the first note is typed and shared with the student and parents, the second stays private.
Real screens from a sample studio. The tidied note is Tidy up’s real output for this note; the typing is sped up. Then pins placed on a real score.

Speak, then Tidy up.

Speak uses your browser’s own speech recognition (Chrome, Edge and Safari). Tidy up uses an AI model to write your rough notes out as clear sentences: it fixes spelling and spells out shorthand, and is built to keep every point you wrote and add nothing. You check it, edit it or undo it, and only Save stores it. Up to 300 drafts a month per studio, and a studio can switch it off.

Notes on the score itself.

Attach a PDF to a piece and tap the page to drop a numbered pin. A pin starts private; share it with the student and parents when you choose, and a shared pin can become a practice assignment.

Choose what to share.

Student, Parent and Private notes are kept apart, so your own observations never reach the family portal.

Also included

  • Repertoire
  • Make-up credits
  • Lending library
  • Expenses and mileage
  • Teachers and payroll
  • Your own private files
  • Public studio page

Help articles are a click away on every page. Ask, an optional assistant in pilot, answers questions about your studio and links you to the page.

Help, wherever you are.

Open Help from the top of any page to search short articles about every part of Notedesk. It is there for every teacher, with nothing to switch on.

Ask is a pilot. An optional assistant, off until the studio owner turns it on. It answers questions about your studio with the permissions of the teacher asking, and links to the page so you can check. It can read, never change anything.

Ask can be wrong, so check the linked page before you act on an answer. Each studio has a monthly question limit, and chat history is not saved.

Teach online.
Everything in one place.

Give a lesson an online location and it gets its own video room, with no Zoom link to send. Your notes, the student’s score with your pins, practice and wrap up sit beside the video.

Your lesson room

A recording of the lesson room in Notedesk, in gallery view: Leo joins playing the piano and lifts his hands from the keys, then John Smith’s own camera shows his hand going onto the keys to demonstrate. Then the lesson panel: a note is typed in Notes, a pin is placed and shared on Leo’s score (Bach’s Invention No. 1), this week’s practice is set, and Wrap up records him as present.

A family joining on a phone

A recording of the family portal on a phone: Today with Leo’s lesson and Join online lesson, then the lesson, where Leo’s own small picture shows him taking his hands off the keys then the teacher’s picture shows John Smith starting to demonstrate at the piano.
Real screens from a sample studio. The cameras are real recordings of a student and their teacher at the piano, filmed separately and played into the call; the join screen is cut and the typing is sped up.

Made for instruments.

Music mode is on from the start: stereo sound with the call’s voice filters off, so a held note is not treated as noise. One switch brings ordinary call sound back.

The lesson beside the video.

Write the note, with Tidy up. Open the student’s score and drop a pin. Set this week’s practice, then wrap up with attendance and payment, without leaving the call.

Families join from their portal.

On a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install. While you wait, the room shows who is coming and can send them a reminder.

The first step of the guided import in Notedesk: choose what to bring over, with every later step listed beside it. Choosing imports nothing by itself.

Already have a studio?
You don’t have to start over.

Bring your roster from any system as a spreadsheet, and from My Music Staff move it in guided steps. Work through it in stages, with a chance to review what comes in.

  1. Choose what you want to bring.
  2. Review the details and anything that needs you.
  3. Pick up where you left off.

From any system, Import students brings your roster from a spreadsheet saved as CSV: students, families and family contacts. From My Music Staff, the guided import also reads the files you export there: lessons, rates, files, billing decisions and balances. Anything uncertain waits for your review. Notedesk is not affiliated with My Music Staff.

A few good questions.

Is Notedesk for solo teachers or bigger studios?

It’s designed with independent music teachers in mind. As your studio grows you can add teachers, choose what each of them can see and change, and pay them hourly or as a share of their lessons, monthly tuition included.

What can families do in the portal?

Families can see their lessons, read the notes you share, log practice, open shared files and scores, read studio news, and view their invoices and balance. A parent can sign in with their own account and switch between their children; you decide whether each child’s access includes billing. Once you connect card payments they can also pay invoices by card. Booking and cancellation options follow the settings you choose for your studio.

Can I bring my existing studio?

Yes, from any system. Import students brings your roster from a spreadsheet saved as CSV: students, families and family contacts. Moving from My Music Staff, a guided import reads the files you export there and can go on to lessons, rates, files, billing decisions and balances. You review each step, anything uncertain is held for you rather than guessed, and you can stop and come back later.

Can I teach online?

Yes, without Zoom or a separate link. A lesson in an online location gets its own video room, open from ten minutes before the start until fifteen minutes after the end. You join from Today or the calendar; families join from their portal on a computer, tablet or phone, with nothing to install. Music mode is on by default, and the lesson room keeps the note, the student’s score with your pins, practice and wrap up beside the video. Attendance is still yours to record.

Does it connect to my calendar?

Your Notedesk calendar has a subscription link that calendar apps such as Google, Apple and Outlook can subscribe to, and you can show read-only iCal feeds from other calendars inside Notedesk. These are one-way subscriptions: changes made in another app do not come back to Notedesk, and there is no two-way sync.

Do I need a credit card to try it?

No. Start with a 30-day free trial without entering a credit card. The monthly plan starts at $15 USD for one teacher, or choose $150 USD billed yearly. Each teacher can turn on two-step sign-in for their own account.

Try it with your own studio.
