notedesk is a tool music teachers use to run their studios. It is provided by PVT Studio LLC. When a music studio uses notedesk and turns on text messages, notedesk sends texts on behalf of that studio to the families and adult students enrolled with it. The texts come from notedesk's toll-free number, (844) 668-3001, and each one starts with "notedesk:" and the studio's name and ends with "Reply STOP to opt out."
1. How you agree to receive texts
A studio may text you only after you have agreed to it.
- The studio asks the parent, guardian or adult student for permission to text a mobile number, usually at enrollment. You can agree in writing (on an enrollment form, in an email or a message) or by telling the teacher.
- The studio then records that consent in notedesk, on your contact record, by ticking the setting "This contact has agreed to be texted" (for a student's own number, the "SMS capable" box under the phone field).
- Lesson reminders by text also need the setting "Text this contact a reminder before each lesson", which the studio can turn off at any time.
- notedesk does not send a studio's automatic texts to a number whose consent the studio has not recorded, or to a number that has replied STOP.
The consent wording a studio is asked to use, with its own name in place of Maple Street Music:
"I agree to receive text messages from Maple Street Music through notedesk about lessons, schedule changes, invoices and payments at this number. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."
This is the setting the teacher ticks on a family contact in notedesk, shown with sample data:

2. What the texts are about
Texts are transactional. They are about the student's lessons and the family's account with the studio, and nothing else:
- lesson reminders;
- canceled lessons;
- a new invoice, and a reminder that an invoice is still open;
- a payment received, an automatic payment that did not go through, and a refund issued.
notedesk never sends marketing or promotional texts, and studios cannot use notedesk's number to send them.
Three examples, for a student named Ava at a studio named Maple Street Music:
- "notedesk: Maple Street Music: reminder, Ava has Piano lesson on Thursday, October 29 at 4:30 PM. Reply STOP to opt out."
- "notedesk: Maple Street Music: Ava's Piano lesson on Thursday, October 29 at 4:30 PM is canceled. Reply STOP to opt out."
- "notedesk: Maple Street Music sent invoice S-1042 for $180.00. Due Nov 1, 2026. View and pay at https://notedesk.studio/sign-in. Reply STOP to opt out."
3. How often, cost, and stopping
- Frequency varies. How many texts you receive depends on your lessons and your account.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.
- Reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END or QUIT) to stop all texts from this number, for every studio that uses notedesk. You will receive one confirmation and nothing after it.
- Reply START to receive texts again after you have stopped them.
- Reply HELP for help. The reply is: "notedesk: Lesson and account texts from your music studio. Help: support@notedesk.studio. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out." You can also ask your studio to stop texting you, or write to us at support@notedesk.studio.
4. Your mobile number and your consent
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.
Texts are delivered through Twilio, which handles the number only to deliver the message. Read more in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
